On Saturday February 28th, 2026, Jacqueline Sue (Ireland) Hawkins passed away surrounded by her loving family. Jackie was born September 23rd, 1940, in Winston Salem North Carolina and was the daughter of Latta and Mary (Richardson) Ireland. Shortly after her father relocated the family to Arcadia IN where Jackie was raised. She was the youngest of their 10 children and the last member of the Ireland clan to pass.
Jackie was a hard worker with a great work ethic. She managed Joann fabrics and worked at multiple machine shops in Hamilton County prior to locating to Arizona in 1978/1979. She spent the next 30 plus years in Arizona where she worked for and retired from IBM. She and her husband then went on and managed multiple storage facilities and apartment complexes living on site until moving to Ash Fork AZ. In Ash Fork, Jackie worked on her hobbies, crafts, volunteering and spending time with her dear friend Abby and Abby's pup Zipper. Short trips to Las Vegas to play the nickel slots, and many trips to the Grand Canyon.
After many years Jackie moved back to Indiana so she could be close to her family. Jackie was a SWEET, kind, loving, giving, selfless person with a bit of sass and that Ireland orneriness. She loved spending time with her family and working outside nurturing and caring for her plants. She was a very talented lady who loved to sew and crochet.
Her children and grandchildren have so many treasured blankets, hats, scarves etc. to remember her by. Not to mention the hundreds of hats and scarves she crocheted and provided for the homeless. In addition, the many purses she crocheted out of plastic grocery bags and tote bags she made from pet food bags and many other creations.
Jackie loved her family with all of her heart. She would always tell us that she loved us a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck. She has sung that song countless times to all of her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
We want to make special mention of Porter who was a baby/toddler that she Nannied for after returning to IN. She cherished that lil guy and he filled her time with love and joy. She bragged about all of his milestones and accomplishments. That was a very special period for her, and he left a BIG imprint on her heart!!
She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years whom she married December 30th 1970, Harry Jack Hawkins Sr., Lawrence IN; son Sidney Bragg Jr, Poland IN; daughter Sheryl (Jimmy) Austin Jacksonville FL., Stepson Harry Jack Hawkins Jr. Indianapolis IN., grandchildren Shawna Austin, Jordan Austin, Bradley Austin all of Jacksonville FL, Tepic Parks Indianapolis IN; great-grandchildren Brayden, Aubree, Carter and Isla Austin.
