James Richard Keyes, 96, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in St. Augustine, Florida. He was born to Edgar and Flora Keyes on February 12, 1923 in Alabama. He graduated from the Berry School in Rome, Georgia, and went on to serve in the United States Navy during World War II. James loved to garden and was always known for his “green thumb”. He was a devout Christian and a member of First Alliance Church in Atlanta, Georgia for many years. His love for his family meant the world to him. James is so very dearly loved by his family and friends, and they will miss him greatly.
James was predeceased by his wife, Doris B. Keyes. James is survived by his son, Stephen Keyes of Austin, Texas, his daughters, Dana Usina of St. Augustine, Florida, and Jamie Keyes of Statham, Georgia, 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
