

Early on the morning of February 15, 2016, our father, James (“Jim”) Fitz Maurice Logan, surrounded by family, held tight by the love of his life, peacefully joined the lord after fighting a long fierce battle with cancer. He was an amazing father, husband, brother, mentor, friend and hero to many and while we deeply mourn our great loss, we also celebrate a long fulfilled life.
Jim, was born in Philadelphia February 26, 1935. He attended Archmere Academy in Delaware followed by Villanova University, University of Paris, University of Maryland Munich and was graduated from Georgetown University in 1958. He proudly wore the Green Beret of The 10th Special Forces Group Airborne and served 20 years as an Army Intelligence officer. He served in the war in Viet Nam, spoke 5 languages fluently, completed jump school and the U.S. Navy’s Basic Underwater Demolitions School.
Following his active duty service, he obtained a master’s degree in international law, worked as a government contractor, an entrepreneur, a flight instructor, and taught ground school to future pilots at the United States Naval Academy. Active in local politics and service organizations, he is a Past Commodore for the Avalon Yacht Club in Avalon, NJ.
Nothing made him more proud than his 7 children who he raised with love and affection. He will live forever in the hearts of many including his sister, Mary Elizabeth Logan of Swarthmore, PA, his wife Elizabeth Toy Logan of Jacksonville, FL, and his children Elizabeth Stone and James Logan Jr. of Gambrills, MD, Sean Logan and his wife Karen of Annapolis, MD, Daniel Logan and his wife Donna of Crofton, MD, Meg Fulton and her husband Brian of St. John’s, FL, Michael Logan of Jacksonville, FL and Heather Matos and her husband Idan of St. John’s, FL. Jim had 10 wonderful grandchildren, Kate Stewart, Greer Evins, Alexandra Logan, Darby Logan, Matthew Logan, Grace Logan, Christine Fulton, Luke Fulton, Isabel Matos and Illiana Matos. Mass will be held Friday, February 19, 2016 at 11:00 am preceded by viewing 10:00 – 10:45 am at St. Joseph’s Historic Old Catholic Church 4214 Loretto Rd, Jacksonville, FL with burial services at Arlington National Cemetery, date to be determined.
