Jamil Abed Rukab

Jamil Abed Rukab, 87, passed away January 14, 2011. He was born in Ramallah, Palestine. Jamil was the owner and founder of Rukab’s Ice Cream in 1943 and was also the owner of Jimmy’s Famous Ice Cream in Jacksonville. He was a member of St. George Orthodox Church. Jamil loved gardening. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Aida; sons, Ihsan (Samira), Raja (Nawal) and Samir (Maram) Rukab; daughters, Samia and Maha Rukab, Wafa (Marwan) Atallah and Samira (John) Alipio; 15 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. The viewing will be held from 5-6 pm, Wednesday, January 19, 2011 with a Rosary to begin at 6:00 pm at St. George Orthodox Church, 6300 Bowden Rd. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 20, 2011 also at the church.
