Jane was born February 21, 1945, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Veryl and Campbell Logan. She attended Landon and Bartram High Schools and met her husband, Jack Steele Mixer, at the University of Kansas, where she majored in geology. After marrying, she moved to Japan to be near her husband who served in Vietnam and then returned to live in her hometown where her husband worked in the family business, Logan Diving, Inc.
Jane was a long-standing member of Christian Family Chapel and served for many years as class administrator for the Jacksonville women's evening class of Bible Study Fellowship. She was one of the original charter members of the Smocking Arts Guild of America and nationally known teacher of French hand sewing and English smocking. She co-owned and operated The Gathering Place in Ortega as well as Tiny Trousseaux. She was well known for her humor and patience while teaching her students how to smock. Many beautiful heirloom dresses were made for friends and family. Jane fought cancer with great tenacity for over 14 years. Merma was a force to be reckoned with.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, by her parents, and by her infant son, Campbell. She is survived by her children, Amy (John) Franks, Christopher (Dana) Mixer, and Ali (John) Campbell, by her grandchildren: Logan, Austin and Peyton Franks, Jules Mixer, and Ella, Zoe, Ada and Nyla Campbell, by her sister, Gail Logan, and by a multitude of friends.
A service will be held on Monday, June 2nd, at one o’clock in the afternoon at Christian Family Chapel, 10365 Old St. Augustine Rd. with a reception following at the Mixer home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Bible Study Fellowship (BSF International) at BSFinternational.org. Arrangements by Hardage – Giddens, THE OAKLAWN CHAPEL
