

LEE-- Jay F. Lee, Sr., 78, passed away May 19, 2008. “Jake the Great-The World Famous 509” was born May 20, 1929 to Wilbur and Jannie Henley Lee in Statesboro Georgia. Jay’s endless sense of humor put a smile on everyone’s face. He loved to laugh and tell jokes to everyone around him. Frivolity was a way of life for Jay. He never went through an automatic door without saying “Open Sesame” in hopes of getting a chuckle and putting a smile on everyone’s face. It was impossible not to smile back at Jay when you saw his joyful, playful smile. There were no strangers in his life! His jovial nature will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends. Retired from JEA after 20 years he went on to become a successful entrepreneur. He was a longtime member of Riverview Masonic Lodge #306. Jay was preceded in death by his wife Helen Hodge Lee. He is survived by Jay F. Lee, Jr., Jay F. Lee, III, Ceceilia Lee, Jaymie Lee, and A.J. Lee. Rosalee J. Kresmery, E. Diane Taylor (Richard), Marsha Taylor, Ervin Taylor, Christopher Taylor, Rosalee McLain and Cheryl Dymek. Marjorie Lee Fields (Kenneth), JoAnn Lee Hamlin (Robert), Ronnie Lee, Frank Lee, and Roger Lee. The Hodge Family and many loving family and friends. The family asks that you come celebrate the life of the self-proclaimed “Handsome, Dashing, Debonair Young Man” at services to be held at 6 pm, Friday, May 23 in the chapel at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave., Jacksonville. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at 12 pm, Saturday, May 24, at Old Ritch Baptist Church Cemetery in K-Ville, Georgia.
