Jean D. Ashton

Jean Nunes Ashton passed away March 31, 2026 in Jacksonville, Florida. Born on February 12, 1934, in Mineola, New York, Jean lived a life full of warmth, grace, and quiet strength that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Jean's journey eventually brought her to Miami, where she met the love of her life, Rudy. The two married and had three children, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Jean loved gardening, quilting and crafting. She was a paraprofessional in a kindergarten class. She said she should write a book with all the stories the kids would tell her!

Jean is survived by her 3 children, Gail Ashton Gibson (Mark), Jeff Ashton (Donna) and Chris Ashton (Sonya), three grandchildren, Matthew Gibson, Michelle Gibson, Danielle Ashton Bland and one great grandchild, Makenna Bland. She also has a cousin Linda who lives in New York, as well as many nieces and nephews she loves.

Viewing and a funeral mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Fort Caroline Rd. in Jacksonville, Florida at 9:30 AM on 4/6/2026. Following the funeral mass will be a reception at the church hall. Graveside services will be held after reception at Arlington Park Cemetery.
