

Jeanette Newman, age 93, of Atlanta and formerly Jacksonville, FL, passed away peacefully December 1, 2017. Jeanette was born January 7, 1924 to Abraham and Sadie Marks, and grew up in Jacksonville, FL. She married Melvin Newman on December 2, 1945, and they were married for almost 60 years. Jeanette's love of family was evident through her unwavering devotion to her husband, children and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Additionally, she valued education and, to promote this ideal, served as a classroom volunteer throughout her children's elementary school years. Jeanette was an active and life-long member of both the Jacksonville Jewish Center and Hadassah. She was an avid world traveler and, by sharing her memorable experiences, others were encouraged to follow her example.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Simon and Pamela Newman of Jacksonville, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Jerry Linsey of Houston, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Philip Cuba of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren; David Linsey, Robin Lafata, Randy Linsey, Holly Zanville, Randi Blick, and Andrew Newman; and eight great-grandchildren; Devin Lafata, Reese Lafata, Max Smilowitz, Evan Smilowitz, Jonah Blick, Logan Blick, and Elise Linsey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Newman, of blessed memory.
