It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jeffery Edward Thompson, age 58, of Jacksonville, Florida. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 14, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. Jeff was born in Jacksonville, Florida to Mary Anne Lane Thompson and the late Billy Stuart Thompson on September 24, 1963.
He attended Englewood High School, and following graduation he pursued a career in plumbing, retiring from the Duval County School Board after 27 years. He was a resident of Baker County, Florida for 20 years, where he raised a son and daughter, and recently returning to his hometown of Jacksonville, FL.
Jeff spent most of his younger days building motors for his record breaking mud truck and spending his weekends at the mud bogs with family and friends. He went on to join the Shriners becoming a Master Mason and then continuing on to become a Shriner. He loved hunting, offshore fishing, music, attending concerts, and a good cold beer. Jeff was an avid Harley lover, always looking forward to Sunday rides with his friends. He attended many Daytona Bike Weeks as well as making two trips to Sturgis. Jeff was a kind soul, a loving son, protective brother, great friend, the cool dad, and best Papaw ever.
He is preceded in death by his father Billy Stuart Thompson; and his brother Tommy Stuart Thompson.
He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Lauren (David) Thompson; son, Zac Thompson; mother, Mary Anne Thompson; brother, Jud (Wendi) Thompson; niece, Amber Thompson; fiancé, Tami Yarborough. He will be missed the most by his grandson, Easton Thompson.
The family welcomes friends and family for visitation Sunday, May 22, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hardage - Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207. A graveside service to honor the life of Jeff will be held Monday, May 23, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Greenlawn Cemetery.
