AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Jennie Braddock Rowe

19 avril 1926 – 9 juin 2025
Avis de décès de Jennie Braddock Rowe
AUX SOINS DE

Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel & Oaklawn Cemetery

Jennie Braddock Rowe passed away peacefully at her home on June 9, 2025. Born April 19, 1926, to Julia and Thomas Braddock, she was raised on a farm located in Jacksonville’s Northside. She survived six siblings and was the last of her generation in her family. Mrs. Rowe is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Robert L. Rowe, Jr. She is survived by her three children: R. Lee Rowe, III (Vicki), Julia R. Lawless (Andrew), and Thomas B. Rowe (Jan); seven grandchildren: A. McCully Lawless, Jr. (Lauren), T. Braddock Rowe, Jr. (Rachel), J. Christina Lawless, R. Stokes Rowe (Harley), J. Caroline Rowe, J. Anderson Rowe, and Robert L. Rowe IV; and one great grandchild, Andrew M. Lawless, III.

Mrs. Rowe graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, and Stetson University (cum laude). In addition to being an accomplished homemaker, she was instrumental in helping her husband open his law office, and worked with him until it was an established practice. She briefly taught elementary school, and was a Duval County Elections poll worker.

Mrs. Rowe’s Christian faith was evident throughout her life. After her marriage, she was an active member of Main Street Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and served on various committees. In 1976, Mrs. Rowe left Main Street to help form a new church in her community, which became Deermeadows Baptist Church. The first meeting of the new church was held in her living room. Mrs. Rowe served in many capacities at Deermeadows, including serving on committees, teaching Sunday school, and singing in the choir. She had a servant’s heart, and was always willing to help wherever there was a need.

An avid tennis fan, Mrs. Rowe played on the Deerwood Tennis Team, serving as captain several times. As a gracious southern lady, nothing pleased her more than entertaining her family and friends. She was always welcoming, frequently extending dining invitations to friends and family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she treasured her family. Loved and adored by all who knew her, especially her family, she will be sorely missed.

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Rowe will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Deermeadows Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Rowe’s memory may be directed to Deermeadows Baptist Church, 9780 Baymeadows Road, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
