

Jerry was born in Louisville, KY. He graduated from Valley High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army and retired after nearly 40 years with CSX. Jerry had volunteered a number of years at Baptist South Hospital and Mandarin United Methodist Church. He was a member of Mandarin United Methodist Church and Compass Class at church. Friends affectionately deemed him as "The Mayor of Deerwood Diner." Jerry loved the Lord, his family, and his cat, Riley. One recently commented, "he never knew a stranger." Jerry loved helping others and caring for those in need.
Jerry was preceded in death by his loving parents, Laura Jane and James Joseph Redmon.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Elaine; two daughters, Diane Fortney, and Gina Redmon; son-in-law , W. Scott Fortney; grandchildren, Hannah Fortney, Brianna Spath, and Ben Fortney; and two sisters, Judy Curry, and Jenny Dumitru of Louisville, KY.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 12, 2019 in Mandarin United Methodist Church, 11270 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223, followed by a reception.
