Jimmy was born on September 27, 1938 in Valdosta, GA to parents Archie and Nina Horne. Jimmy lost his father at the age of 10 and was raised by his Mother with assistance from his older brothers and sisters. He graduated from Jones College in Jacksonville, FL with an Associates Degree in Mathematics. He married Grace A. Squicciarino on April 23, 1960. He was drafted into the Army early in their marriage; he served his 6 years as a cook (2 years active duty, 2 years active reserve and 2 years inactive reserve). They lived in Jacksonville, FL where they had 2 sons. They later moved to Callahan, FL, remaining there for the rest of their lives.
Jimmy only worked for 3 companies before he retired, not counting his time in the military. His first job as a teen was working for a local grocery store, Banner Food, to help out the family. The second job was at Fry Roofing Company for 15 years where he worked on the assembly line creating roofing tiles. His third job was at Anheuser-Busch Inc. where he worked for over 20 years as an unskilled laborer on the fifth floor where they brewed the beer. After retirement he got a job with Big O Delivery service to keep him active, where he would transport material to job locations. This took him all over FL and to neighboring states.
Jimmy had several interests over the years, but his first love was fishing. He coached little league when the kids were young, had a motorcycle, taught many neighborhood kids to swim and spent as much time as he could with family members, especially his remaining siblings. He was a Mason originally to Riverview Masonic Lodge until it was combined with Oceanway lodge to become Oceanview Lodge #408. He was a 32nd degree Master Mason through the Scottish Rite in Jacksonville, FL.
Jimmy will be VERY missed by his family and friends.
