Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Paul Thomas (1999), her parents Mrs.
W. R. Brown and Howard Neal, brothers Hank and Jerry, and sisters Alma, Louise, Jenny and Gertie.
She is survived by her son Steve (Michele) Thomas, grandchildren Jordan (Julie) Thomas and Nikki and Jenny Simmons, great-granchildren Kaylyn and Mason, niece Barbara Wallis and her children Glenn (Diane) Wallis, Cindy Wallis Snelson and Robin (David) Mahle, nephews Mike, Jack and Scott Flack.
Also her lifelong friend Gilbert (Bud) Littrell. She also remained very close to her ex-daughter-in-law Sherry Miller and close friend Rachel Fleming.
Joann retired from the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office after 20 years of service. She loved gardening, painting and bird watching, and in her younger years, she loved to fish and was really good at it.
