

Joseph Juan Perez, 24, passed away September 11, 2015 at his home in Jacksonville, FL. Joey was born Middletown, NY and moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1994. He attended Sandalwood High School and graduated as part of the National Honor Society, AFJROTC, Color Guard, Track, and football teams. Prior to making a decision to join the ranks of the honorable men and women serving this country, Joey earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from University of North Florida. He was a founding member of his Fraternity as well as a member of the Criminal Justice Club. His intention was to apply this education and training to pursue a career in Federal Law Enforcement with the US Marshal Service. Joey was a recent graduate of both Military Basic training out of Fort Jackson, SC as well as Office Candidate Training out of Fort Benning, GA. He earned the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in US Army. Throughout Joey’s life he applied himself 100% to whatever he pursued whether it was his next rank in Martial Arts, achieving a higher level of fitness, or demonstrating his loyalty to his favorite football team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, as a 5 time season ticket holder. Joey is survived by his mother, Yvette Marie Dumenigo; fathers, Johnny Sausa and Scott Monnoyer; fiancé, Taylor Santioni; brothers, Sean Reed, David Castro, and Jacob Juneau; grandmother, Maria Dumenigo; aunts, Raquel and Kristina Dumenigo; godparents, Mike and Monique Addison; and mentor, Master Sergeant, Robert Doty. A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Monday, September 21, at Christ’s Church, 6045 Greenland Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32258. The funeral service will follow at 7pm at the church.
