John Joseph Egan Jr.

John Joseph (Joe) Egan, Jr, born February 16, 1935 passed on August 27, 2017 after a courageous fight against cancer. Joe was one of nine children, preceded in death by wife, Margo F. DeFee Egan, brothers Matthew Egan and Edward Egan, sisters, Martha Kennedy and Helen Fountain. Joe is survived by daughter, Jackie J. Dees, son-in-law, Tony Dees, Grandchildren, Anthony Dees, Matthew Dees (Catherine Brooks), Mikaela Dees. Four Great Grandchildren, Matthew age 10, Mckinleigh age 5, Madalyn age 5 and Griff age 3. He is survived by brothers, Tommy and Billy Guinn (Anna Guinn), Michael Kennedy, sisters, Lanier Johnson and Hazel Woods.

Joe was 82 years old and leaves behind numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, great great-nieces and nephews and the many friends he made and touched along the way both in Jacksonville and Palm Bay, Florida.

Joe was a Korean War Veteran, retired Air Force in 1992. Joe continued in the field of Air Fire Crash Rescue and Civil Service until 2002.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville FL 32207. Arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville FL 32207. Joe asked that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to St Jude’s Children Hospital: P.O.
