John Anthony Fabiano, 77, passed away on March 22, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida. Born on December 8, 1948, in Paterson, New Jersey, John was the beloved son of Anthony and Eleanor Fabiano of Sag Harbor, New York. He is survived by his brothers, Paul and Tom, his stepdaughter, Wendi and her family, along with his nieces and grand nephews.
John spent much of his early life in Sag Harbor, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a deep love for the water, the arts, and storytelling. As a young man, he worked summers at the yacht clubs and marinas throughout the Hamptons to help put himself through college. He graduated with degrees in the arts and theatre and continued his studies with postgraduate work in Performing Arts Management and Play Direction.
In his early career, John moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he worked with a theater group and helped develop audiences for performing arts venues—an experience that reflected both his creativity and his natural gift for connecting with people.
John’s professional life was as varied as it was dynamic. Over the years, he sold everything from radio advertising to Volvos, owned a billiard parlor-tavern, worked as a financial advisor, and taught special education in an autism program. His talents eventually led him to corporate leadership, where he rose from sales engineer to National Sales Manager for a global communications company, earning consistent recognition for performance and leadership.
Later in life, John brought together his experience, insight, and philosophy in his book, The Tao of Sales.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beth, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. Together, they found joy in life’s simple pleasures—traveling, enjoying clams on the half shell, savoring chocolate-covered strawberries, and listening to Jimmy Buffett. Their time together remained a cherished part of his life.
Known as “Doc” to his friends, John lived with curiosity and a sense of adventure. An avid sailor and fisherman in earlier years, he traveled extensively—cruising the Bahamas, fishing in distant waters, swimming with sharks in Bora Bora, witnessing the Northern Lights in Alaska, and watching the rare green flash at sunset in Moorea. He delighted in life’s unexpected moments, whether flying past volcanic peaks or relaxing in a hammock on a black sand beach in Tahiti.
John’s love of storytelling began early—he landed his first writing job at age sixteen, covering the waterfront for his hometown newspaper. Throughout his life, he remained an artist, a writer, and keen observer of the world around him.
He had a deep affection for animals and found comfort in their companionship, including the special bond he shared with his pet rat, Pack.
John will be remembered for his vibrant personality, his gift for storytelling, and his unforgettable laugh. He lived a life marked by individuality, resilience, humor, and a wide range of experiences that left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held this summer.
