HURLEY - John Louis Hurley, Sr., 89, passed away on Monday May 17, 2021 in Jacksonville. He was born in Boston, MA and retired from the U.S. Army after serving 21 years and 3 tours of duty in Vietnam. John also retired from J.S.O. as a Helicopter Mechanic. He was a tool “Freak” who enjoyed fixing and building things. He greatly enjoyed most History documentaries. He was the oldest of 7 brothers and only 3 survive.
John is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Barbara I. Hurley; daughter, Kathryn Mendoza; step-daughters, Paulette Gutierrez and Pauline Rozier; sons, John L. Hurley, Jr. and Phillip T. Hurley; step-sons, Glen Powell and Paul Snipes; brothers, Moe, Patrick and James Hurley; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday May 24, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 pm in the Chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32211. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday May 25 in the Chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will be in Chapel Hills Cemetery.
