

He was born July 24, 1925 in Smarr, GA and moved to Jacksonville, FL at the age of one with his family and became a life-long resident of Jacksonville. Mr. Johnson was a decorated WWII veteran serving with the U. S. Army. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star among other medals. As a member of the 90th Division, he participated in the Normandy Invasion and was truly an American Hero and a member of the Greatest Generation. After the war he married Geraldine Buff in February, 1950. He was employed for many years as a master craftsman at Huckins Yacht Company. He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed woodworking loved baseball and deer hunting with his son, Scott and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Geraldine B. Johnson; his son, Scott W. Johnson (Karen); daughter, Vicki D. Johnson; a brother, Charles Johnson; one sister, Betty Sue Johnson Altman (Curtis Altman); and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
