

John Francis Mallis, 70, of Jacksonville, FL passed away peacefully on July 2, 2017, surrounded by family at Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring. Mr. Mallis was born on March 11, 1947, in Newark, NJ, to Valerie and Frank Mallis. He was enlisted in the Army from 1967-1969 and served in Vietnam. While enlisted he completed training through the United States Army Signal School and completed the instructor training qualification program. Then he furthered his education at RCA Information Systems Division and ECPI in computer programming. In 1979, he moved his family to Jacksonville, FL from New Jersey. He worked at Bank of America as the Senior Systems Analyst, part of the TPST Production Support Team for 34 years. John and his family were active members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for over 35 years. He also coached and refereed soccer at JYSC for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family watching football, attending FSU football games, going to NASCAR races and supporting the Armada Football Club from the beginning with 6 season tickets. John is survived by his daughter Jennifer Mallis and grandson Gavin Mallis; son Frank Mallis and wife Carrine Mallis and granddaughter Ariella Mallis, grandsons; Phoenix and Emmett Mallis, son; Tony Mallis and his brother, Robert Mallis and wife Christine Mallis. His wife, Maggie Mallis and his parents Frank and Valerie Mallis preceded him in death. Memorial contributions can made be made for John’s grandchildren at Vystar Credit Union under Gavin Mallis. Visitation will be held in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin on Sunday July 9 from 3-5 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 10 at 11 AM at St. Joseph’s Historic Catholic Church, 4214 Loretto Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32223 with burial to follow at 2 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32218 .
