

John G. Slater “Jack” passed away on Monday April 24, from complications related to radiation therapy. He died after a short stay in hospice following an up and down battle with multiple compounding complications.
He was born March 25th 1935 in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Jack was married to Colleen C. Slater, his wife of 62 years, lifelong love and best friend who preceded him in death almost two and a half years ago. They had three children Jim (Jarame), John (Tricia) and Anne (Daniel). He attended Marquette University for both undergraduate and graduate school.
Jack had a successful career starting in Banking/Finance and transitioning to Acquisitions/Business Development specializing in the material handling industry later in his career.
Jack and his family resided in Milwaukee, WI, Madison, WI, Cincinnati, OH, Belgium, WI, Naples, FL and finally Saint Augustine, FL. Throughout the places he called home he formed warm friendships and was loved by many people. He was an avid golfer and outdoorsman and was active in the church. He was a self-made engineer and loved building all sorts of devices and gadgets, and helping neighborhood kids with their science projects.
Jack is survived his three children and 8 grandchildren Jim (Jarame) Slater - Alley, Jack and Jimmy, John (Tricia) Slater - Elise and Teresa and Anne (Daniel) Bean - Evangeline (Maggie) (Byron) Baker, Jeff and McAnarney (Mac) Borngesser. He is preceded in death by his wife Colleen C. Slater, Mother Margaret M. Slater, his Father Thomas M. Slater, and Brothers Thomas M. Slater and Richard B. Slater.
The Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday April 29, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. John Paul II Catholic Church.
