John Waddell passed away on June 8, 2015. He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on December 18, 1938 to John and Vera Waddell. He served his country in the Air Force for 32 years. He was stationed in Turkey, Colombia, Vietnam (1965-1966), Panama, Brazil and American Embassy Defense Attache, Lima, Peru. In 1989, John moved to Jacksonville and worked for the city with Human Rights Commission. He was also a member of the Southeast Citizens Planning Advisory Committee (CPAC). He loved fishing and boating.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Gloria; sons, Johnny, Michael and Richard; grandchildren, Johnny, Sean, Allison, Catherine and Marta and his brother, Pete.
Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 26 in Peace Presbyterian Church, 2300 Southside Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32216. Inurnment to follow with full military honors at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32218.
