Jon Jeffrey Wittig

Jeff was born May 21, 1956, in Utica, New York, the son of Suzanne Daynard and Leon Wittig.

Jeff served in the United States Navy before settling in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended the University of North Florida (UNF) and graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health. He pursued many passions throughout his career but most enjoyed those within areas of law and education.

During his time at UNF, Jeff met and fell in love with Martha “Mickie” Campbell. He and Mickie were married on May 1, 1988, at Palms Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.

Jeff was a committed Christian and member of Christ’s Church. He loved God, and he loved his family. His generous spirit and fantastic sense of humor blessed everyone around him. He enjoyed playing golf, spending time at the beach, and traveling.

Jeff is survived by his mother, Suzanne Sykes (Charles); his father, Leon Wittig (Nancy); his sisters Mary Beth Seaha (Peter), Susan Wittig, and Cynthia Tolley (Jeff); his brothers, Matthew Wittig and Charlie Sykes; his daughters, Amanda Margaret Wittig, 19, and Kelsey Lea Wittig, 16; and his loving wife, Mickie, of 23 years.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Christ’s Church on Greenland Road in Jacksonville, Florida. The service time is 4:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in honor of Jeff to either Christ’s Church Academy or Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Inc.
