On the 28th of October in the year 1972 , heaven brought an angel to Joseph Earl Daugherty I and Denise Daugherty nee Tuck. That angel would be a beautiful baby boy named Joseph Earl Daugherty II or Joe as he preferred. Feelings of pride, joy, and fear resonated through the heart of Denise. Here was this tiny thing that would depend on her. At the time little did Joe’s parents know what an amazing impact he would have, especially on one particular person. That person was his best friend, the love of his life, and wife Bernadette Daugherty. Meeting on April 23, 2003, and then after being together for nearly 7 years, Joseph and Bernadette decided to get married. So, on March 15, 2010, along with his mother, Denise; younger sister, Joyce; Joyce’s husband, Edwin; and their two sons: Jose and Justice, Joe and Bernadette took the plunge in holy matrimony. For 20 years, Joe made Bernadette the happiest person in the world. For 50 years, he made his family proud and at times frustrated.
Joseph Earl Daugherty II was more than a husband, a son, a brother, a cousin, and an uncle. He was a talented artist, a kind soul, a quick-witted fellow, a great friend and a pure angel sent from above. He had love for so many things: comics, anime, gaming, sci-fi, music, horror, fantasy, and the NFL, especially the Jacksonville Jaguars. On June 26, 2023, Joseph was called back to Heaven. He leaves behind his wife, Bernadette Daugherty; his mother, Denise Tuck; his younger sisters, Joyce and Lindsay; his brother-in-law: Joyce’s husband, Edwin; and his nephews: Jose and Justice.
Joseph was well loved by those who got to know him. He will be truly missed. Even though he is no longer physically here with us, we hesitate to fully say goodbye. To quote Simon from the anime Gurren Lagann, “This Isn’t Goodbye, You’re Always Here.”
