

Joseph Henley Warner, 72, formerly of Lookout Mountain, GA, died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 14th, at his home in Jacksonville, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Porter Warner, Jr., and Jane Gilman Warner of Lookout Mountain. He leaves his wife, Lis Lindahl Warner of Jacksonville and step-children, Jan Lindahl, and Sussanne Lindahl and grandchildren, Kyle Lindahl and Kelsie Lindahl. Survivors include his brother, Porter Warner III (Barbara) of Signal Mountain; twin brother, Douglas Gilman Warner (Sandra) of Lookout Mountain; and his sister, Mimi Iversen (Judd) of San Francisco, plus several nieces and nephews.
Joe grew up on Lookout Mountain and attended The Bright School and McCallie School where he was Regimental Major. He graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where he was a Moorehead Scholar and member of Phi Delta Theta. Joe continued his education at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga obtaining his Master’s Degree.
In his career as a teacher, he taught at McCallie School and Lake Ridge Academy in Cleveland, Ohio. He recently retired from St John’s Country Day School in Jacksonville where he taught for 25 years and served as Chairman of the English department.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 20th in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin.
