Joyce Keeley Loftus

Joyce Keeley Loftus (“Hoyce”) was born in Newark, New Jersey on October 12, 1949 and passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at the age of 75. She was raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey and she raised her family in Cranford, New Jersey. She relocated to South Florida in 1994, and lived in St. Johns, Florida the final two years of her life.

While in New Jersey, she worked as a dance studio owner/instructor and administrative assistant for the Township of Cranford Health Department. She then worked as a legal assistant when she relocated to Florida.

She is survived by her son, Brendan Keeley, daughter-in-law, Robyn Keeley, and her daughter, Mandy Cerrone. She was the proud grandmother of Madelyn Keeley, Liam Cerrone, and Claire Cerrone.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Loftus, parents Francis and Veronica Nelson, brother Richard Nelson, brother Robert Nelson, sister-in-law Kate Nelson, and sister-in-law Susan Nelson.

The family would like to thank Community Hospice and Palliative Care, Bailey Center, of North Florida. The family would like to additionally and especially thank palliative care nurse, Angel Elmore, for the incredible care and compassion she showed in Joyce’s final days and weeks.

For those who knew Joyce, she was an incredibly devoted grandmother, mother, mother-in-law, wife, sister, aunt, and friend.

Her love for the performing arts and sports (go Yanks and of course J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets!) stayed with her throughout her life. Her strong will and determination will remain an inspiration to all who she has left behind. Joyce will be incredibly missed by her family and friends. Her family is so thankful for the time they were able to spend with her. They will be forever grateful for the life lessons and incredible example Joyce was to each of them throughout her well-lived life.
