

Julia Elizabeth Menendez Rardon, a long time resident of Key West, Florida was called to be with our lord on Sunday, January 5, 2014. She passed peacefully in her sleep at Regents Park of Jacksonville. She was 93. Julia was devoted to her family, friends and her churches. She was a member of Key West United Methodist and Green Hill Baptist of Rutherfordton, North Carolina. Julia had many friends in both churches and loved to be an integral part of the congregations. Julia Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband and father of 3 children, Louis R. Menendez of 32 years. She was also predeceased by husband William Rardon of 10 years. Her family members predeceased were her parents William and Hilda Hamlin and her brothers Louis, Robert and Billy Hamlin. Julia is survived by 3 sisters who she dearly loved. Shirley Lane (John), Ruth Spicer and Virginia Schoneck, who were very special in her life. Julia was so proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her son Bobby Menendez (Cathy); daughters April Menendez Gili (Larry) and June Menendez McDowell (Bob). Her grandchildren are Bobby Menendez Jr. (Jennifer), Dee Dee Henriquez (Ralph), Tony Gil, Christina Naranjo, Louis McDowell, Heather Niemiec (Chris) and Chris Carrico. She is survived by great grandchildren Ashley Henriquez, Ralphie Henriquez, Alex Naranjo, Angela Villard, Anthony Gil, Michael Gil, Amanda Gil, Skylar Menendez, Presley Menendez and Thomas Niemiec. Julia was also very proud of her great grandchildren Hazel Naranjo, Julian Sanchez and Zoey Benetiz. She was also proud of her numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to acknowledge Regents Park of Jacksonville for their loving care the past 4 years and Shannon Curry with Hardage-Giddens for her guidance regarding the services for our special mom, grandmother, great grandmother and loving friend. Julia Elizabeth had a tremendous love for her animals. In lieu of flowers her wishes were to donate in her name to Pet Rescue North, Inc. P.O. Box 28574 Jacksonville, FL 32226-8574.
