Juliet W Schnackel

Juliet Willard Schnackel, 94, of Jacksonville, passed away on February 24, 2011 in her Mandarin Home. Juliet was born on April 28, 1916 in Joliet, IL to the late Francis Duck Willard and Mary Hawkins Rathbone Willard. She grew up in Joliet where she attended school including Joliet Junior College. Prior to marriage, she worked in her father’s bank. Juliet married Charles A. Schnackel in 1939 and they moved to Oak Park, IL. In 1944, they moved to St. Paul, MN, during WWII. In 1950, the Schnackels moved to Indianapolis, IN. She lived in Indianapolis, Indiana from 1950-1991. Juliet was involved with the Symphonic Choir, the Matinette Musicale, Community Concerts, and the Newcomers Welcome Wagon. She attended the 3rd Church of Christ Scientist. Juliet was an avid bridge player, enjoyed knitting and needlework, a garden club and the Indianapolis 500. In 1991, Juliet moved to Greensboro and became active in that community until she moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Lowe (Ron); her daughter, Linda Traweek; her son, C. William Schnackel (Guna); her daughter-in-law, Mahshid Schnackel; her 7 grandchildren, Pam Cowden (David); Patricia Rittscher (Allen); Ronald Lowe Jr. (Michelle); Katherine Long ( Alan); Jennifer Dado; Chase Schnackel; and Bobak Schnackel (Spring); and her 13 great-grandchildren. Juliet was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arthur Schnackel, her son, Robert Schnackel, her brother, Edward Webster Willard, and her grandson, Kenneth Russell. A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 11:00 am in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin with Pastor Deborah McLeod as officiant. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Juliet to the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville FL, 32257, or to the Boy Scouts of America, 521 Edgewood Ave. S., Jacksonville, FL 32205, or to the Girls Scouts of Gateway Council, 1000 Shearer Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32205.
