

Karen was born on December 2, 1950, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alford Gilyard, her mother, Gladys Douglas Anderson, and her father, Rufus Anderson. She has three brothers: Lindsey Douglas, Howard Douglas (deceased), and Lawrence Douglas (deceased).
Karen attended school in the Duval County School System and graduated from Wolfson Senior High School in June of 1969. Karen went on to attend Florida Community College of Jacksonville and became a Registered Nurse (RN) and a licensed Real Estate Agent. She worked as an RN for over 30 years before she retired.
Karen was loved by her family and friends. Her favorite place was in her garden of flowers and trees that were just as colorful and beautiful as she was. She loved all animals. She was known to be a giving person and would help anyone in need. Karen was also a breast cancer survivor of 34 years. She will be truly missed.
Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her five children: Johnny Jones IV (Tamesha), Katrina Douglas, Melody Douglas-Bass (Jerome Bass), Kia Stafford, and Ronald Stafford; a brother, Lindsey Douglas; grandchildren: Keith Douglas, Malcolm Douglas, Asia Campbell and Isaiah Campbell, Johnny D. Jones, Jovon Jones, Duane Thomas, Deyvon Thomas, Shanae Thomas; one great granddaughter, Erykah; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation will be held at Hardage - Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home, located at 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207, on February 7, 2026, starting at 10:30 am.
The funeral service will follow at the same venue on February 7, 2026, beginning at 11:30 am.
