

Katherine Sweat Randall passed away at age 94, on February 25, 2014, at the Life Care Center of Orange Park where she had resided for the past nine years. At her side were her daughter Evelyn and two of her granddaughters.
Katherine was a devoted wife and mother and a passionate Christian. Her life was committed to her home and family and to a ministry of Bible teaching. She was a friend and mentor to a host of women who attended her Sunday School classes. For most of her lifetime she was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and Normandy Baptist Temple (now West Jacksonville Baptist Church). In later years she also attended First Baptist and Westside Baptist Churches.
She was preceded in death by her parents Archie and Pearl Smith McCallman, her husband of sixty two years Robert Eugene Sweat, sons Robert Eugene Sweat, Jr. and Ronald Steven Sweat, by six brothers and sisters, and her second husband John O. Randall, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Evelyn Leah Sweat Strickland (Rev. Kenneth B. Strickland), daughter-in-law Janice Touchton Sweat (widow of Robert E. Sweat, Jr.). Also surviving her are grandchildren: Kenneth Brantley Strickland, Jr., Katherine Leah Strickland, Julie Ellen Ferris, Carol Lynn Snyder, Robert Eugene Sweat III, Richard Steven Sweat, and Robin Celeste Sweat Whetstone. And, she leaves behind a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Katherine's family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of the Life Care Center of Orange Park.
Visitation will be Monday March 3 from 6-8pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home 729 S. Edgewood Ave, Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday March 4 at 11 am with burial to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
