

Kent was born in Omaha, Nebraska, to Warren and Dorothy Haines. He was an athlete throughout his school years and enjoyed watching baseball, football, and hockey. He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Jacksonville Icemen. He enjoyed video games, especially Civilization. He was also a member of numerous online communities with a focus on veterans’ networks and cruise forums. He brought his unique brand of good humor to his every interaction and maintained acquaintances with colleagues, vendors, staff, and fellow regulars wherever he went.
Kent served in the Air Force for 20 years as a member of Security Forces. Kent continued to serve as a policeman with the Springfield, Florida Police Department after separation. His service-related disability led him to pursue a career in information technology after his graduation from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in 2006. Kent worked in the public sector until 2022. He joined Deutsche Bank as a Vice President in Security Incident Management where he worked until his death.
Kent was preceded in death by his father, Warren, his mother, Dorothy, and his younger brother, Christopher. He is survived by his wife, Sandy, and his children Michael [Rebecca] of Richmond, Virginia, Daniel of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jessica, of Anchorage, Alaska; and his sister Lori (Rob), and brother Warren (Stacey). He also leaves 4 adored grandchildren and 3 beloved granddogs. Kent was a dedicated family man and maintained close contact with many cousins, aunts, and uncles in addition to his immediate family.
