Larry was a quiet man with a big heart and enjoyed living a simple life. As a husband he brought a whole new meaning to the depth of true and passionate love to his wife forever welded into her heart. He was a devoted and supportive father always departing his wisdom and life lessons to his children to guide them in life. He would always share with them his life quotes such as “Nothing in life is ever free” or “Want in one hand and S*** in the other and see which one gets full first” as a way to instill these lessons. You could always count on him to be a straight shooter and never sugar coat anything with you and he had his own special zany sense of humor. For those that loved and knew him this will be our hardest goodbye, but his memory will live on in that special place we have tucked away in our hearts just for him.
He had a lifelong career in the automotive industry. As a hobby he enjoyed automotive restoration and reading a real newspaper from front to back. He was very interested in politics and had his own very strong political views.
He was predeceased by Elda Vaughn Hembree (Father), Ada Mae Hardin Hembree (Mother), Susan Delp (Sister), Angela G. Hembree (Daughter), Gina A. Hembree (Daughter).
He leaves behind his wife of 38 years Deidra M. Hembree, Christina N. Hembree (Daughter), Timothy V. Hembree (Son), two brothers, one sister, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews as well as host of other relatives and friends.
As his wife I would like to extend a special acknowledgment to those who have brought us comfort and filled Larry’s days with many days of smiles and laughter and made him feel special throughout the years: Marion Guilford, Elizabeth Dixon, Lori Serino, Anna O’Toole.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Mayo Hospital, Confident Care of Florida, with a special appreciation to Anthony Anderson for their support and compassionate care to Larry during his lengthy illness.
Please reach out to the family before sending flowers as there will not be any services at the funeral home.
