

LaVerne Hartley Conner, 88, went to be with our Lord Thursday, August 25, 2016. She was born in St. Augustine, FL, moving later to Jacksonville. She worked 53 years as a welder during WWII, a production worker at NCR, and then retired as a paste-up artist at The Florida Times Union. Loved as a wonderful mother to Barbara Nobles Kizer and Larry Nobles (Kay), grandmother to Lori White, Bruce Campbell, Jessica Brooks and 14 great-grandchildren. Also known to many others as MOM. Preceded in death by her husband, James O. Conner; parents, Hattie and Ralph Hartley; two brothers, Melvin and Bernard Hartley; three sisters, Joyce Tanner, Betty Wishard, and Lorene Smith. She is survived by two sisters, Shirley Robbins and Florene Markham, and many nieces and nephews. Special Regards to her uncle, Louis Adams (Nita) and twin cousins, Sandra Mitchell and Linda Bagley. All were dearly loved. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, August 28, 2016, in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, August 29, 2016 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, followed by interment in Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
