

HULCHER- LeRoss Hulcher, age 75, passed away September 9, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center ER with her family and priest by her side. LeRoss battled bravely with grace and courage for 6 1/2 years. LeRoss was born in Columbus, Ga to the late Frank Ross and L. E. McMichael on July, 24, 1936. She attended the University of Georgia and was president of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She left during her final quarter to marry the love of her life, Dick Hulcher as they believed then 1st Lt. Hulcher was to be soon sent overseas. Their devotion would last for almost 52 years. LeRoss was a woman of grace, dignity and a true southern lady and hostess. She was an avid bridge player who proudly achieved Life Master status in the ABCL. She was a member of the Jacksonville Women's Club and the Arlington Women's Club. She had a love of flowers, birds, especially cardinals, and her daughters' dogs. LeRoss was an avid University of Georgia and FSU fan who would cheer for her favorite teams each Saturday.She was an active member of her community and church. LeRoss was a proud member of the ShAdCo D in Arlington from it's inception. She always enjoyed the Sheriff's luncheons when she was well enough to attend. She was a proud and very strong supporter of The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. She had a special fondness and love for the State Attorney's Office where Laura has worked for 25 years. LeRoss was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of The Altar Society, K'Cees, St. Vincent de Paul, Christ The King Council of Women, Prayer Network, Queens and Kings and Visitation of the Sick at Christ the King.LeRoss always considered her greatest gift and achievement in life was her loving and mutually devoted family. She loved them without limit and with great pride. She was the kindest, most involved, loving and encouraging Mom to her two daughters and all of their friends. LeRoss and "her girls" had a rare and uncommon, unbreakable bond which was sealed during some of Dick's long out of town assignments during his 25 year law enforcement career. She met all the challenges that being both a Mom and Dad brought with her usual grace and love. LeRoss and Dick shared a love of travel and adventure which they were able to take advantage of after Dick's retirement. They also enjoyed serving their community and church together. LeRoss considered her family complete with the addition of her two sons- in- law whom she considered her "real sons" and felt truly blessed with the addition of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Jude Hulcher and sister, Sue Robinson.LeRoss is survived by her devoted and loving Husband of 52 years, Dick Hulcher; daughters, Patricia Folsom (Terrell) of Tallahassee and Laura Bottin (Fritz); grandchildren; Kris Lane (Robert), Beau Bottin (Kelly) and Bret Bottin. She is also survived by great grandchildren; Seth and Samantha Lane, Brady and Sean Bottin as well as sister- in- law, Mary Jo Hudson of Richmond, Va. along with many nieces and nephews. The family is grateful for the love and care provided by Dr. Ashok Roychoudhury, Dr. Dinish Jayadevappa, the Regency Davita Dialysis Center, home healthcare providers; June PT, Nia RN and John OT. Also, the members of Christ the King parish community for their unwavering love, support and prayers. Finally, the family thanks the members of JFRD and JSO who transported LeRoss to Memorial ER and stayed with and worked tirelessly in support of LeRoss and her family. On Tuesday (TODAY), September 13th, there will be a visitation with family at Christ the King Church, 742 Arlington Rd. from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, including a vigil prayer service at 6:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 14th at 10:00 am at Christ the King Church located at 742 Arlington Rd. Interment will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a time and date to be announced. Per her expressed desire, flowers are gratefully accepted. However, in lieu of flowers, and also in accordance with her wishes, donations may be made to the LeRoss Hulcher Memorial Scholarship Fund at Christ the King School, 6822 Larkin Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211. LeRoss had a great love for all of mankind. Throughout her life she epitomized the addage, “it is better to give than to receive.”
