Linda grew up in Jacksonville and graduated from Landon High School in 1962. On December 6, 1966, she met Jim Wishart, and just weeks later—knowing she had found something special—they were married on February 13, 1967. Immediately after their wedding, Linda and Jim began their life together in Newfoundland, Canada, starting years of travel as they moved wherever Jim’s career took them. In 1986, they returned home to Jacksonville, where they settled permanently. Jim preceded her in death in September 2018.
Linda was a devoted Christian and a longtime member of Regency Church of God, where her faith shaped the way she loved, served, and lived.
She was, above all else, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her five children Vicki (Pat), David (Stacey), James (Dawn), Chris, and Amy (Scott). Her legacy continues through 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren, with two more on the way—a family she treasured deeply. Linda is also survived by her sister Emmie.
A tireless giver, Linda devoted her life to her family. She sold Avon throughout her neighborhood and her children’s schools and was on famously friendly terms with all of Chris and Amy’s teachers—ensuring her children “got away with nothing.” She worked at the Flying Club in Millington, Tennessee, to help pay for Jim’s flying lessons, and as a preschool teacher at Regency to help cover her children’s school tuition. In every chapter of life, she gave all of herself, all of the time, to those she loved.
Linda sewed and crocheted with care and intention; there is not a soul in her family who does not own a hat or potholder lovingly made by her hands. She attended her grandchildren’s events faithfully, supported her children in all their endeavors, and held onto everything that mattered. If you gave her a card, she still had it—kept and cherished it. Though she was rarely on time, she always showed up, bringing with her a heart full of love.
Linda will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generosity, her listening ear, and her deep understanding of the value of love and family. Her presence lives on in the many generations she nurtured and the countless lives she touched.
