A few words if I may.  I grew up in the same northside neighborhood   as Marc back in the 60's and 70's here in Jacksonville's northside of Highlands .  We were the same age and competed feverishly as opponents in Little League baseball.  We parted ways in school after junior high 73 not to run in to each other again until he saw me setup at a ball card show in 1991 at the Jax Landing  .

We caught up at that moment over old times.  Today just hearing about his passing leaves me quite sad.  Having lost my older brother Chuck to cancer in 2020 I can only  say that I grieve for Marc's family and loved ones.  He was a truly gifted youngster as I remember him  back in the day .  God bless you Dewey......please say hello to Chuck for me.

I first met Marc when I was nine at Highlands Little League on the Indians. We made some great memories back in those days. He had a true competitive spirit, and  I learned that lesson well when he spotted me a bunch of points at Pine Lakes Golf course when were kids, but a little older and he drummed me of course! I will always be grateful for the wonderful times we spent together. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.

I was saddened to hear about Marc’s passing. And I pray for his family and friends to to fill the hole in their hearts with the memories and love that he left them.    We shared a lot of good baseball together at Highlands Little League.            Two All Star teams , a couple championship s with the Tigers. But what I remember most was his honesty and character as a young man, you knew he was headed in the right direction .                     The last time I saw him was at the Clark Rd Driving Range hitting frozen ropes with a persimmon 3wood as it is with life we lost touch. But he always stayed in my thoughts as a true friend. I was saddened to hear about Dewey. I've known Dewey for many years, reacquainting ourselves in competition when we both showed up at the different "ping pong" clubs we frequent. I never knew what Dewey did for a living; that he was a teacher and professional athlete, but, it makes sense to me now, and clarifies why I never won a game from Dewey. Dewey was a strategist, and always overcame my hard, fighting, style with a gentlemanly, confident grace (when we played I'd just tell him he was being sneaky). All of us table tennis fanatics, and his friends will  miss him. My condolences to his family.

Dewey was one of the most generous people I have ever met.  What I really appreciated was how he was so generous with two of his most important possessions : his time and his knowledge.  All of my interactions with Dewey revolved around our shared love of ping pong. But from the time I spent with him, there was no doubt in my mind he was a great man in all aspects of his life. 
I looked forward to our weekly calls where we’d talk about all things ping ping.  I loved picking his brain, as every time I talked with Dewey, I’d learn something valuable. He had an insatiable desire to learn, and it was very contagious. I loved that he would never try to sugar coat any recommendations he’d give, but in a very matter of fact way get right to the heart of what I needed to work on.  He was a great man, a great teacher, and a great friend that will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

I met Dewey playing table tennis back in 2014 at the YMCA.  He was always ready to help out with timely advise and even gave me one of his rackets to use.  His teachings has made me change my game and I still use his racket to this day.

I have been reading all the wonderful condolences and memories of my beloved friend Dewey. They say the true measure of a man is how many people miss him when he dies. Appropriately by this measure Dewey is a very great man as he indeed was.. Patti, John, Shannon and Bree  your loss is immeasurable and you have all my thoughts and deepest sympathy. He is at last with Christ whom he worshipped every day of his life as should we and as we will all be one day.

I was so sorry to hear of Marc’s passing. I always thought of him as larger than life with such joy and enthusiasm. I never hear a Keith Green song without thinking of him. I pray you and you family are comforted by the love you have for each other and him.

I am saddened by loosing such a pleasant classmate. Mark had the best personality. My heart goes out to the family. May God give you strength to make through this difficult time.

So sorry to hear about dewey. My dad rev James Bryan enjoyed spending time with your family.  Going to my first professional golf tournament was because of Dewey.  He gave my dad tickets to the old Sawgrass course. I went with dad and we had a great time. The last time I saw him was at the ravines giving Mark mccumber lessons. My heart and prayers are with you all!!  It seems like I have known Marc my whole life!!! I remember when he rode his bike down to my house and decided he wanted to be called Dewey!!! Our countless hours of ping pong and how happy I was when I finally beat him..him not so much though!!  But I did have the best teacher!! There will never be another Marc Dewey Arnette and I am so happy and blessed to have known him and have so many great memories!!

I’ve sat down and tried to write something that encapsulates Mr. Arnette at least a dozen times over the past few days and each time I’ve had to stop and start over because I just couldn’t get it right. Ultimately, I’ve come to the realization that trying to express how much he meant to me and my family is an impossible task as there just aren’t enough words. He was a great man, father, husband, son, Christian and person and the world was a better place with him in it. He touched so many people and I’m just thankful that god allowed him to be a part of my life. I know for a fact that I’m a better person for it.

The last time I saw Mr. Arnette was at my own father’s funeral where he shook my hand, gave me a big hug and told me that it was okay to be upset, but to remember my father was with Christ. I’ll remember that interaction and so many others until the day that I die.

To Mrs. Arnette, John, Shannon, Bree and the rest of the family, I am so sorry. My family and I have been praying for you and will continue to do so every day. I love you all very much. 

I played baseball for your dad in Highlands Little League and coached you when you were playing in Highlands Senior League and you were a great ball player and a great young man. I had the privilege of following your golf career and watched you play at the TPC. I went to school at Ribault with your sibling's and lived down the block from you guys on Dolphin Blvd in the great neighborhood of Highlands. You mom and your dad treated me so kindly and I will be forever grateful to them, your sibling's, and to you for how much your family did for me. Rest In Peace. My heart and my prayers  go out to your family. 

I knew Marc (Dewey) back in grade school, we were neighbors.  He always made me smile and laugh. I moved away for a short period of time and when I came back home, he visited me.  Marc was always to the point, and told me I was fat, I gained 20 pounds when I moved away.  He made me jog with him every night for 2 months, sometimes he had to drag me to finish.  Our friendship just didn't end at our high school, Bishop Kenny, I kept up with him during his years of being a pro golfer.  Marc you were a great man, have a lovely wife and you both have had a wonderful life.  You are in paradise now, rest peacefully my old friend.  Donna

I got to know Dewey from playing him in table tennis, and you can be sure he was a really good player, but more importantly he was a really good man. My heart goes out to the family, but remember time heals all wounds. Dewey's probably hatching up some tricky serve in heaven as you read this.

I have had the pleasure of playing table tennis with Dewey. He reached a high level very quickly, much quicker than most . I’m sure due to his dedication. He studied the game and strategy. What was great about him was he was always willing to share his knowledge of the game. Dewey would practice and play with you no matter your level. I treasure the time I had with him, gone too soon but he will be remembered by so many.

Our deepest sympathy to Patti and the family on the passing of a very special human being. We are very saddened by Derry’s death and will always remember all he did for our family. There is an old saying down south about wonderful people like Dewey and it goes like this “he was all wool and a full yard wide.”

In the course of a man’s life people come and go. One of the hardest things is to meet a person that can earn your respect, a person that you can call a real friend. For the last 4 years I had the pleasure to spend time with Dewey. We played table tennis together 4 times, 5, sometimes 6 times a week. We exchanged stories. We told jokes. We didn’t agree on everything, but it was all for fun. One time he asked me to describe him with one word. I said “unyielding”.  He smiled and nodded. Dewey had a big heart and everyone that knew him knew that.
 I’m gonna miss you my friend. Rest In Peace.

We haven't met but I feel like I know you from Dewey's loving descriptions of you and your family.  I am very sorry to hear of his passing and would like you to know that he made quite the impression on me. 

I traveled long distances to have lessons at Windsor from my sometime base in Naples and it was always worth the trip.  

He was as much fun with non-golf topics as he was with golf related tips.  While our time together was limited, I will remember it fondly and miss him and his wise counsel.

I was so sad to hear the shocking news about Dewey. I first met Dewey in the early 2000s, but because I live in London, I was only able to  see him once a year. These were memorable occasions, when I would stay at Windsor for two or three days and learn from the master. 

Dewey was by far the best golf teacher I have ever met, with his unique teaching methods and wonderful banter. What a wonderful personality and what a kind man.

I send my most sincere condolences to you, his family, and I hope that you will gain some solace from all the happy memories of your life together. 

My sympathies to Dewey's family. I'm a friend and fellow table tennis player. I've known Dewey for about 10 years and I've always been amazed at the innovations he would come up with in his game. He became one of the top players at our club and more than that became one of the most liked people there. Just a really fun person and great sport to be around. He will be greatly missed by us all.

Never complicated. Simple suggestions easy to assimilate and produced immediate positivity!

I met Dewey playing ping pong. He looked at my new Walmart Paddle and kindly told me " You're not going to beat anyone with this".  Dewey pulled a paddle out of his bag and said try this one. ( He gave it to me).  What a kind gesture to a stranger!!
In the years to follow Dewey gave me pointers on how to play with Pips each time we played.
What a truly great person, player, friend and he will be tremendously missed. ( Tears shedding)

It’s impossible to articulate what Dewey meant to me.  I have been so blessed to share a friendship and professional career with such a kind and Godly man.  Through the years I had a front row seat to so many selfless acts of kindness.  Giving and helping others simply flowed from his heart.  
During my Fathers illness Dewey would often stop by, driving nearly two hours to drop off donuts and say hello.  The last words I ever heard my Father say were “Thanks Dewey”.  I would like to say the same words today...Thanks Dewey for a million memories and lessons that will last a lifetime.

Dewey Arnette, I met Dewey many years ago when he was playing the PGA tour. I knew the day I met Dewey, he was a good man. We reconnected a few years ago and I was fortunate enough to spend some time with a remarkable man again. I went through some dark hours after Dewey and I reconnected. Dewey was there on several occasions to support me. He was a TRUE friend.  Dewey was definitely an original and I was blessed to have had him in my life.

Dewey Arnette attended many Table Tennis tournaments in Lakeland, Florida over the years. He was truly a great player but also such a great person that was loved and appreciated by the entire Table Tennis Community. We cherish the memory of Dewey. 

I met Dewey Jean Marie's Table Tennis Club when we played at the YMCA on Fort Caroline Road. He was one of the kindest people i have met in my life. He was never too busy to listen, teach, lend a hand and just be human to everybody. My Condolences to the entire family.  He will be dearly missed.

Dewey was a regular visitor to the Vero Beach Table Tennis Club. He was one of the best long pips players I've ever seen. He also had an amazing short serve that was almost impossible to return. So much talent and skill. As a long pips player myself, Dewey was a personal inspiration to me. We had dozens of matches and I learned so much from him. I'm going to miss those encounters. Rest well Dewey, and THANK YOU on so many levels.

John I remember the first time I met your father during our sophomore year of high school. I shook his firm handshake, and then I looked down at his grip and wondered why he had baby powder all over his hands. When I asked you about the powder, you proceeded to explain to me it wasn't powder, but callous dried skin from playing golf for a living. We had a great laugh about it then, and it still makes me smile today. 
 Mrs. Arnette, John, Shannon and Bree, my heart is with you all and I am so deeply sadden for your loss of a very great man. All my love to you guys during this difficult time.

I first met Dewey at the Willie Galimore Recreational Center in St. Augustine, Florida. At the time, I was a young man looking to test my table tennis skills. Dewey always rose to my challenge. I had the opportunity to play Dewey many times over the years. He never compromised and always brought his best effort against me. Dewey was a fierce competitor. I have moved on to other sports but I still remember the time I shared and the lessons I learned from Dewey Arnette. May he Rest In Peace.
