Margaret is survived by her husband and best friend, Jack Heinemann of Green Cove Springs; three loving sons, Jeffrey (Shelby) Heinemann of St Augustine, David (Shannon) Heinemann of Tallahassee, and Richard Heinemann of Green Cove Springs; and four amazing grandchildren, Jack, Malory, Sam, and Liam.
Margaret was born on October 18, 1946 to the late Robert and Dorothy George in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. She was the youngest of three children, with an older sister, Alice, and brother, David of New Oxford, Pennsylvania. Margaret grew up in the United Methodist church and graduated from West York High School. Margaret and Jack met while working together at P. A. & S. Small Company 1972 in York, Pennsylvania. The first two times Jack asked Margaret out, she said no, however his persistence paid off on date request 3. They went to Hershey, Pennsylvania and attended a concert by Blood Sweat and Tears. Unfortunately, he got sick at the end of the concert. Margaret had to drive him back home to York, Pennsylvania. He walked into the house and his car pulled out of the driveway. His parents asked who was driving his car. He explained to them the story and that Margaret had to drive him home. Even with that first date, she agreed to marry Jack on January 6, 1973. They were married at Margaret's parents’ home in Hanover, Pennsylvania with family and friends in attendance. Due to Jack’s heavy workload, he could only take the following Monday off. They honeymooned at the Mountain View Inn, half way between York and Beaver, Pennsylvania. They purchased their first home in Beaver, Pennsylvania where their first son, Jeffrey Robert was born on October 18, 1973.
Christmas of 1975, Jack ordered Margaret a beautiful set of Lady Walter Hagen Ultradyne golf clubs. That spring when they were ready to start playing golf together, Margaret told Jack they would have to delay her golfing career until their second son, David Reese, was born on August 26, 1976. They moved to Johnstown, Pennsylvania in the summer of 1978 for Jack to work for Zamias Development and Construction Company. Their third son, Richard Wayne, was born January 15, 1980. In the spring of 1983, they relocated their family to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for Jack’s work at Peanut Shack of America. Then in the spring of 1985, they relocated their family to Rochester Hills, Michigan for Jack to work for a shopping center developer Robert B. Aikens. One of Jack’s friends from his Zamias days needed his help with 2 ongoing projects in Pensacola, Florida and Tulsa, Oklahoma. During the early years of their marriage, Margaret was a stay-at-home mother taking care of their three sons and getting them to all of their various activities. She was the best Mom anyone could wish for. In the fall of 1986, they moved to Gaithersburg, Maryland when Jack had a new opportunity with Federal Realty Investment Trust. They remained in Maryland through 2001. During this time, Margaret worked as an administrative assistant of the Montgomery County School System. Right after September 11, 2001, they made their last move to a different state. Jack had another work opportunity to take advantage of in Florida with Regency Centers. Living in Florida, they moved 3 times staying in the Jacksonville area. The last move was to their current home in Green Cove Springs.
During their 16 years in Florida, Margaret became an avid golfer and carded two hole-in-ones. The first hole-in-one was just down the street from their home at Mill Cove Golf Course on the second hole. So, every time they would drive by the course, Margaret would point and say “that's where I made my first hole-in-one, Jack.” The second hole-in-one was a few years later at St Johns County Golf Course, while they were playing with two young boys. Jack’s shot ended up approximately one foot from the hole and he took credit that her ball bounced off of his ball then went in the hole. When they walked up to the green, his ball was one foot behind the hole, so he couldn't take credit that his ball helped her ball get into the hole. Jack has been playing golf for 57 years and is still chasing the dream of his first hole-in-one… Both Jeff and Dave have hole-in-ones, Rick does not, but he doesn't play golf either. The family did request that Margaret help Jack out with a hole-in-one of his own… maybe just a strong breeze ;) Margaret joined the Arlington Newcomers Club when they first moved to Florida. She has been a member ever since. The club is full of wonderful ladies that became her friends and have been a wonderful support system for her. They visited Margaret during the last several months, at various times, to be with her. Jack and her family want to thank all the ladies for the way that they made Margaret feel. It's been Jack’s pleasure to have met many of them and he also calls them his friends. Margaret was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in late January 2017. She had surgery to remove the tumor from her pancreas on February 17. Then on March 16, the CT Scan revealed that the cancer had moved to her liver. She was then diagnosed with terminal Pancreatic Cancer. They went to Germany on May 15 thru June 1 for some special treatments that weren't available in America. Unfortunately, they were not successful in treating her Cancer. Margaret and Jack were blessed to spend 44 1/2 years together. She was a special Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend. Margaret will be remembered by her strong wit, her contagious laugh, her welcoming hugs, her uncanny ability to find the short grass and her impeccable fashion sense!
