

Marian was born in Guin, Alabama to Wesley C. Clark and Marian J. Clark on August 29, 1938. She grew up in Birmingham Alabama, graduating from Woodlawn High School and Samford University. While at Samford she was very involved in college life, serving as President of Delta Zeta Sorority as well as several other organizations. Marian graduated with a BS degree in Human Resources Management.
While attending Samford, she met Gordon McMahan and they married in 1961. They began their life together in Birmingham and their two daughters, Melanie and Merideth, were both born there. Gordon was an executive with the Chevrolet division of General Motors and they moved to many different places throughout his career. Marian, who loved to meet new friends, loved the excitement. She always said that she lived a wonderful life. They moved one last time to Jacksonville, and after 45 years of marriage, Gordon passed away in 2006.
Marian was a member of Selva Marina Country Club, River City Women’s Club, and many other organizations through the years.
Marian is survived by her daughters, Melanie (Malcolm) Thompson and Merideth Creecy, and her grandchildren Hunter Thompson and Hayden Clark Creecy.
A memorial service for Marian will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223.
