

Born on June 29, 1941, in Kenilworth, New Jersey, to German immigrant parents Bertha Haeffner Kochendorfer and Richard Adolf Kochendorfer. Marieanne spent her early years working on the family farm while attending school. Marieanne married Fredrick Karl Prokop in 1960 and later moved to Jacksonville, Florida, with her husband and two daughters. She retired from a dedicated career at BellSouth.
Marieanne was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose kind, affectionate, and generous spirit touched everyone she met. Her selfless compassion and cheerful, positive outlook left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She cherished time spent with her beloved grandchildren and found joy in activities such as sewing, crafting, visiting Walt Disney World, traveling on cruises, and relaxing at the beach. A woman of faith, Marieanne enjoyed worship as a member of Saint Mark's Lutheran Church, where she found fulfillment volunteering as an usher.
Marieanne is survived by her husband, Frederick Karl Prokop, two daughters, Marieanne Denise Barnes and Kim Canaday, son in laws, Tony Barnes and Jeffrey Canaday, Grandchildren, Michael Joseph Cusick Jr. (significant: Nytsia Rodriguez), Maxwell David Cusick (significant: Michelle Parker), John Paul Castro-Canaday (significant: Viviannys Bal), Haleigh Canaday, Katie Williams (husband: Dale Williams), Rebecca Barnes, and great grandchildren Jack Parker Cusick, Larry Griffin IV, Alexandra Williams, Emilia Facca, and Elliot Facca.
Marieanne was preceded in death by her parents (Berta Wilhelmina Haeffner and Richard Adolf Kochendorfer), siblings (Joan Adelheid Kirk and Richard Charles Kochendorfer), special cousins Lorelei Rowe and Dagmar Hamilton, and treasured great granddaughter Khaleesi Emilia Robles.
Marieanne, “Granny”, will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her. Her beautiful soul, love and kindness will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.
A celebration of Marieanne’s life will take place at Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207, on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. The viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the committal service immediately afterward.
