

Mario Carvalho passed away June 26, 2014 after a lengthy battle with heart disease. He was born April 26, 1922 in New Bedford, MA. His family moved to Portugal in 1930, and he returned to America at the age of 15. In 1942, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served as Chief Petty Officer on the USCG Woodbine until 1946. He earned his BA degree from Northeastern University, Boston, MA and his Master’s degree from Babson Institute, Wellesley, MA. In 1987, after 39 years, he retired from General Motors as Superintendent of Quality Control, Framingham Division, MA. Mr. Carvalho is survived by his wife, Linda Nalley Carvalho; sons, David M. Carvalho of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Robert A. Carvalho of Milford, MA; grandson, Robert J. Carvalho of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; step-son, Scott Nalley (Angelia Sardi) of Jacksonville, FL, step-daughter, Suzanne (David) Geraci of Keller, TX; step-granddaughter, Jessica Geraci of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Helena (Michael) Santorelli of Colonia, NJ and Rosa Maria (Doyal) Parks of Stuart, FL and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Ramos; brothers, Antonio “Tony” Carvalho and Manuel “Manny” Carvalho and sister, Herminia “Mimi” Rodrigues. A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 7th in St. Joseph’s Historical Church. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to The American Heart Association.
