She was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, to Mitchell and Wydette Toney. Mary attended Assumption Grade School and Bishop Kenny High School before attending cosmetology school to pursue her love of hair styling. In addition to hair styling, she was blessed with artistic talents that included pottery, stained glass, quilting, painting, and sewing. She was an avid gardener and a joyful cook who loved to share the fruits of her labor.
Her most sincere passions were walking with God, serving those less fortunate, and loving her family and friends. Her faith in God and generosity towards all people touched many lives. She will be especially remembered for bringing many people to develop an understanding of the Bible and a close and personal relationship with Jesus. She led many Bible studies, and was a beloved member of Assumption Parish and All Souls Episcopal, then All Souls Anglican Church.
But her greatest joy came from her two sons and their spouses Garrett and Anna, Elliott and Amy. She was also blessed with an extended family that includes 8 loving grandchildren; Melanie, Felix, Lily, Madison, Carter, Luke, Emelia, and Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mitchell and Wydette Toney, and her beloved brother Mitchell Toney Jr. She is loved and survived by her siblings Charles Toney, Connie [Paul] Andry, Steve [Rose Cauchon] Toney and Scott Toney and 5 nieces and nephews she adored.
Her Christian Burial Service will be celebrated at 11am on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at All Souls Anglican Church, 4042 Hartley Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32257, where we will come together to celebrate Mary’s life. Immediately following the service there will be a reception at the Parish Hall with an open forum for anyone who would like to speak and help us celebrate her life.
