
Michael Thomas Hayden was born June 7, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Virginia Burkhalter and Thomas C. Hayden. He passed away on October 29th, 2014 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Mike worked as a salesman for ten years before going into business as an auto mechanic with Fred Wheeler at M & F Garage at 405 W. Beaver Street. He provided excellent service to many downtown office workers and even found time to capture a robbery suspect in 1984 for which he earned a Service to Mankind Award from the Sertoma Club. After his retirement, he embarked on a career as an antique dealer, estate sale manager, provider of props for local movie and television productions, and landscape designer. His green thumb and horticultural artistry will be missed by his many customers.
He is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his beloved, caring and creative wife, Robin; daughter, Michele Spires (John); sons, Dean Patrick and Donald Wayne Hayden; shining light granddaughter, Hayden Spires; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Peggy and Robert Masculine.
He never met a stranger. People who truly knew him will never forget him.
