

Born in Baltimore, MD, Michael was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather. Passionate in his work ethic and principles, selfless in his acts of giving, he was vigilant in his love and kindness to the people who surrounded him.
Michael graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School, Red Bank, NJ in 1970. In high school, he lettered in football and wrestling; serving as co-captain his senior year; and was the second recipient of the John Copperthwaite Award, in recognition of his achievement in wrestling. He then attended Trenton State College in Ewing, NJ and Allegheny College in Meadville, PA before graduating from the University of Delaware, Newark, DE with a B.A. in English in 1975 and a B.S. in Engineering in 1978.
After graduation, Michael began his career as a Methods Engineer M/W (Maintenance of Way) Production Improvement, Conrail and followed with Assistant Track Supervisor in Harrisburg, PA under Conrail; Supervisor Track, Conrail Buffalo, NY; Assistant Track Production Engineer in Cleveland, OH Conrail; Assistant Division Engineer Track Pittsburgh; Assistant Division Engineer B&B (Bridge and Building Department) and C&S (Communications and Signals) Pittsburgh; Regional Production Engineer in Pittsburgh, Conrail; Engineer Construction West in Pittsburgh, Conrail; Assistant Chief Engineer Operations Support CSX; Assistant Chief Engineer MOW (Maintenance Of Way) Operations and Planning CSX; and most recently the Assistant Chief Engineer Facilities CSX.
Michael was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan, however one of his favorite things was watching his children compete and perform in many musical and sporting events, including choral groups, marching band, rowing, and swimming. He was in the process of restoring a 1971 Chevy Monte Carlo that he has had since 1978. Michael and his wife recently traveled to Las Vegas and also attended his 40th High School Reunion.
Preceded in his passing by his mother, Jane Sanders Hill, his brothers, Bruce P. Hill and Raymond A. Hill, III (Terry), and his sister, Mary M. Hill, Michael is survived by his father, Raymond A. Hill, Jr., of Hamilton, NJ; his wife of 29 years and one day, Patrice (Trece) Hill; Stacy W. Haun and her husband, James R. Haun of Harrisburg, Pa; his son Raymond A. Hill, IV and his wife Christina of Los Angeles, CA; and his daughters Kari C. Hill of Boston, MA; and Lindsey A. Hill of Jacksonville, FL; and grandchildren Mackenzie and James Haun of Harrisburg, PA. He is also survived by his sister Jane Hunnicutt of Eagle Point, OR; sister and brother-in-law Deborah S. and David Scheu of Wilmington, NC; brother and sister-in-law Brian O. and Linda R. Hill of Trenton, NJ; sister and brother-in-law Victoria H. and Robert Hill-Paul of Santa Rosa, CA; and brother and sister-in-law Thomas C. (Chris) and Barbara Hill of Robbinsville, NJ, as well as 26 nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until 4:00pm and 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Sunday, Oct 24th at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd. Catholic Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Oct. 25th at 10:00am, 9800 Baymeadows Road with reception to follow.
