

M. Wayne Myers, 69, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on February 4, 2017. He was born July 25, 1947 in Tallahassee, FL, the son of Samuel and Helen Myers. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Marlene Snider Myers, his children Lauren and Gary (both of Atlanta, GA), mother-in-law Shirley Snider, sister Hope Myers Munyon (Tallahassee, FL), sister-in-law Carolyn Snider, nephew Bruce I. Wiener (Wendy) (Tallahassee, FL), nephew David Snider (Natalee) (Alexandria, VA), and niece Ellen Underwood (Colvin) (Fairfax, VA) in addition to other nieces and a nephew. Wayne grew up in Tallahassee and was a proud member of the Leon High School Class of 1965. After high school, Wayne attended Tulane University and the University of Florida - Fredric G. Levin College of Law. Wayne practiced worker’s compensation law throughout most of his legal career and turned his focus to alternative dispute resolution in his later years. He was a board certified worker’s compensation attorney and a member of The Florida Bar, Jacksonville Bar Association and the Worker’s Compensation Section of the Florida Bar. He was a member of Congregation Ahavath Chesed, Epping-Forest Yacht & Country Club and Ponte Vedra Lodge & Club. Wayne was first a family man and was always there for his loved ones. Wayne loved all-things sports, from playing golf to attending Florida State University and Jaguar football games. In his spare time, you might find him at the horse track or exercising at Epping Forest. Wayne was a loving husband, father, brother and Uncle, and a compassionate, caring and generous man. He was a true gentleman and mensch. Wayne will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32223 on Monday, February 6, 2017, at 11 a.m. A grave side service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Tallahassee, FL on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Ahavath Chesed or the Florida State University Foundation.
