

Mickey Lindsay Parrish left his home on earth March 15, 2015 to go and live eternally with Jesus Christ his Savior in heaven. Mickey was born July 27, 1930 in Water Valley, Mississippi. He moved to Florida in 1935 with his mother and attended local schools. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division in Japan, the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, the 187th Regimental Airborne Combat Team on the line in Korea, and also the 8240th Army Unit. After an honorable discharge, Mickey attended the University of Florida and then began a career in the printing ink business. Mr. Parrish co-founded Christian Light Ministries in Jacksonville and served as a missionary in Kenya and Uganda in East Africa, and was instrumental in starting a prison ministry in Ukraine.
Mr. Parrish was predeceased by his mother, Bessie Gaddy Parrish, and step-daughters, Sherry (Barber) Gaskins and Catherine (Barber) Tomlinson. He leaves behind his deeply loved wife, Alice Litten Parrish; step-daughters, Linda (Barber) Adams and Cynthia (Barber) Harris; step-son, Robert Barber; along with grand- and great-grandchildren.
A service celebrating the life of a man who touched so many for Jesus Christ will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, Hobson Auditorium, located at the corners of Hogan and Church Streets, Jacksonville, FL 32202 with the Rev. Stan Frye officiating. The service will be followed by interment in Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL with military honors.
