Mildred Ann Chambless (Ann), 90, was called home to be with the Lord in everlasting peace on August 28, 2018 with beloved family members by her side and an outpouring of love and care by many at River Garden Hebrew Home. Ann had a special 'light' that will forever now shine on those she loved and touched with her sweet southern charm and gracious, caring, and loving ways. Her greeting for all was the warmest one-of-a-kind sparkling smile which filled a day with sunshine and happiness. She always had a kind word to share. Heaven is rejoicing as she is now in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father and reunited with her husband and two sons.
Ann was born in Albany, GA but spent the majority of her life in Jacksonville, FL where she married her high school sweetheart in 1945 and remained deeply in love for 62 years until Heaven called him home. She was an extraordinary loving, caring, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who provided a foundation for her family that has and will continue to surpass multiple generations. She lived a life of love, devotion, faith and happiness with a spirit that was contagious and uplifting. Ann had a great appreciation for all of God's creations and humbly admired them in awe whether it was a beautiful flower blooming, a vibrant green tree, a bright blue sky, a baby's smile, children laughing, loved ones held close. She was a faithful member of Southside Assembly of God for many years and part of the Ladies Bible Class. She loved being with her family and friends enjoying picnics, camping, fishing, exploring, being on or by the water, and gardening including exquisite flowers, luscious fruit trees and delicious vegetables. She enjoyed canning and freezing the 'fruits of her labor' to share with family and friends. Ann enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing the organ, and more recently ceramics and painting. Her family adored her as she was pure joy to be with and she embraced each one with unconditional love, care, support and hope for tomorrow. To know her was to love her as her sparkling sweet light within shone to all those who had the honor of knowing her.
Ann is predeceased in death by her devoted husband, Robert (Bob) Chambless, and two sons, Robert “Gary” Chambless and Kenneth (Kenny) Wayne Chambless. Left to live and honor her memory is her devoted loving daughter, Linda Salter (Dave) of Orange Park, FL; a son, James (Jim) Chambless (Linda) of Flagler Beach, FL; grandsons, Scott Chambless (Sumaya), Tanner Chambless, Jon Salter (Amy), and Chris Chambless; granddaughters Jessica Martinez (Bruno), Jami Chambless, Amanda McKinney (Wayne) and Lena Chambless; thirteen beloved great-grandchildren; and other loving family members and friends. She had a wonderful brightness, grace, and love of life and family with a witty sense of humor. Ann was truly a Sweet Momma, Grandma, Great Grandma, and Dear Friend that will be sorely missed but loved forever in our hearts.
