

Mildred Agnes Stephens, 92, passed away on March 3rd 2011 at Rivergarden Nursing Home in Jacksonville, FL. She was born in New York City, NY on November 15, 1918 to John and Edna Menkin Harris. She attended Bay Port High School and St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in Staten Island, NY. During her career, she worked as a nurse in St. Vincent’s Hospital, Seaview Farm Colony and Eggers Nursing Home. She loved to cook for family and friends. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was married to the late Walter Stephens and they lived in Staten Island, NY.
She is survived by daughter, Margaret Nuzzo and her husband, Joseph, of Riesterstown, MD; daughter, Marie Caccavo and her husband, Frank, of Melbourne, FL; son, Harvey Stephens of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Kathy Holler and her husband, Jack, of Jacksonville, FL. She had 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Rivergarden for the wonderful care she received in the final year of her life.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Sunday, March 6, in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am in St. Joseph Historic Catholic Church, 4214 Loretto Rd., Jacksonville, FL with Father Daniel Cody as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
