

Miriam Joy Burkhart (90) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on the morning of December 23, 2024, after a courageous eight- month battle with cancer. Miriam's life was a testament to faith, love, and dedication. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her but remembered with profound love and gratitude for the memories she created and the legacy she leaves behind.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on 1/11/25 at San Jose Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with entombment immediately following in the Church Columbarium.
Born on January 15, 1934, in Jacksonville, Florida, Miriam was the youngest of four children born to Sophia and Wesley Lantz. Miriam and Don first met at a dance in 1953 and on February 19, 1955, they were married at Old Holy Rosary Catholic Church, beginning a beautiful journey together that spanned nearly 70 years. Miriam was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who cherished her family.
Miriam was a devout Catholic and devoted member of San Jose Catholic Church, where she was active for many years, serving others in several ministries.
Miriam is survived by her beloved husband, Donald H Burkhart; her sister, Gloria Lantz; her children, Pamela Timmons (Mark), Donna Starratt, Linda Crabtree, and Tim Burkhart; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Miriam was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley Chapman Lantz and Sophia Warken Lantz, and her brothers Wesley Lantz and William Lantz.
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests donations to Community Hospice Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring, 4266 Sunbeam Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
