Muchia Ann Hamm, 64, born in Sparks, Georgia, a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida passed away in her home July 1, 2009. She was a graduate of Terry Parker High School, retired after 20 years service as a claims adjuster for State Farm Insurance Co. and was a longtime member of Resurrection Catholic Church. Muchia, who was as unique as her given name, was a loving, caring, gracious soul whose gift in life was to befriend all those she came in contact with. She battled debilitating Rheumatoid Arthritis for 25 years but never lost her sweet, energetic, outgoing and positive attitude. Her constant prayers for those she loved and knew will be sorely missed. Muchia, was preceded in death, a month after her birth, by her father James Thomas Brown who gave his life serving his country in the U. S. Navy during WW II, by her mother Avanell Gibbs Brown who also suffered Rheumatoid Arthritis, and by her stepfather Louis T. Silvestri whom she loved dearly. Muchia is survived by two sons, William J. Vanscyoc III and James Richard Vanscyoc (Mary); two sisters, Kathy Minton (Jim) and Janet Montano (Kevin); five grandchildren whom she adored, Matthew, William, Julian, Jimmy and Joshua. Two nieces she cherished, Becky Robinson (Erin) and Wendy Cope (David); one great nephew whom she was so fond of Peyton; her faithful companion and pet of 11 years “Buster”; and her many close friends. In retirement, she enjoyed sewing and quilting and although arthritis had ravaged her hands, she created many beautiful “Keepsakes” for family and friends. She was a member of Remnants and Pieceful Quilters Quilt Clubs and also a member of Women of the Moose-Moose Lodge Chapter #305. Her family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the many doctors/nurses that provided Muchia such compassionate treatment during her long battle with arthritis. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday July 11, 2009, at Resurrection Catholic Church, 3383 University Blvd. N. with Fr. Jason C.
