Nancy was born on August 13th 1948 to her mother, Lynn Richardson and her father, James Richardson. She married her sweet husband and best friend, James Morris Ford, Jr., on June 25th, 1971. When he passed away on March 11, 2022, she wasn’t the same and missed him dearly.
She attended First Baptist Church and worked in the 5-year-olds Sunday School class for 32 years. She first came to the 5-year-olds Sunday School class for moral support when her shy daughter Stephanie attended but she loved the teachers so much, she stayed! She loved all of the children and having the opportunity to teach them about Jesus.
She attended the University of North Florida as an adult to become a teacher. When she graduated with her teaching degree, she decided public school was not for her and decided to continue tutoring full time. She taught everyone from preschoolers to college students how to read, learn math, or get ready for a certain test. She was constantly found with her nose in a book, researching problems, tests, anything that her students needed. And she loved every minute of it. Her favorite was math, especially algebra. She would bring different math books on family vacations and do algebra problems next to the pool for fun.
Nancy had a knack for fixing everything in the house and could be found fixing lights, crawling under the house looking for a wire, dragging a hose through the house to fix the tub, etc. It was always an adventure. She also loved to draw, scrapbook, and do arts and crafts projects. She could never sit still and always had to find something to do.
In the last three years of her life, five wonderful people joined the family. Mildred, Annette, Destiney, Levonia, and John were hired as caregivers for both Nancy and Jim. They all brought so much laughter and love to their lives and a summary of Nancy’s life would not be complete without mentioning them.
Nancy joins her husband of 50 years, Jim, and her parents, Lynn and James, in Heaven. She is survived by her children Stephanie and Cassie, her grandchildren Travis, Wyatt, and Oma-lee, and her older brother James.
