She was preceded in death by her parents Olin and Mary Elizabeth Webb; her loving husband of 49 years, Leslie Milo Miles; her brothers and sisters: Thelma, J.T., Mildred, and Olin; and her beloved son, Charles.
She is survived by her daughters Teresa (Roy) Pritchard and Kim (Hal) Schemer; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
Ollie had numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that she adored and treated like her own. She was blessed to have Catherine Mason by her side these last several months. Catherine is more than a caregiver. She loved “mama”, and we are so very grateful for her tender, loving care.
Ollie grew up in Lake City, Florida, where she graduated from Columbia High School. After graduation, she continued to help raise her younger brother after her mom’s passing. She met and married Milo, becoming a military wife during WWII. Shortly after, she became a telephone operator with Southern Bell. They resided briefly in Ft. Lauderdale and Lake City, but eventually made Jacksonville their permanent home in 1958. In 2009, she moved to Taylor Residences where she lived and enjoyed her many dear friends for 16 years.
Ollie was the true matriarch of her family. She was a skilled homemaker, cook, and entertainer. She always opened her home to anyone in need.
Family and Faith were her top priorities. She never missed an opportunity to listen, give advice, tell a joke, and most importantly, share her unconditional love with whomever stopped by for a visit.
Her most cherished times were spent with her grandchildren. She loved attending their activities and special events. However, watching the Florida Gators was a close second; she never missed a game
Ollie was a founding member of the San Souci Baptist Church where her love of children led her to work in the nursery for many years. She was an active member of WMU. There, she developed lifelong friends known as the “Lunch Bunch”. Each of these ladies held a special place in her heart.
In 1978, she became a member of Hogan Baptist Church and remained so until her passing.
She was a faithful servant of GOD, and never missed an opportunity to tell others to have faith and to trust in the Lord.
In lieu of flowers, please send any memorial contributions to Vitas Hospice in Ollie’s name.
